DJ Mixes

07 Oct 2017 by Nod Steady

I started DJ’ing at age 11. At first, I was drawn to it by the equipment and the blinking lights. It was fascinating! Later, I got into the technicalities of mixing and scratching, and took that far.

But I also enjoy just blending different styles of music, without thinking much about the technical stuff. I had fun doing mixtapes on cassette before I got turntables, and the focus then was on the music. Unlikely and unexpected matches that worked out well were fun, and still is.

Some of the DJs I respect the most arent’t technical at all: Their ability to pick the right music at the right time is above average. After all, the music is the most important part of a mix, no matter how technically skilled the DJ is.

Here are two mixes I’ve made recently with focus on music, rather than mixing.

If you like your mixes spiced up with some scratching, I can assure you that I will post some later.
